Good work…. now I want a cup of coffe
BORING
This isn’t even a legit logo/brand. What’s next showcasing student portfolio work?
Hey lets make up a word and do some illustration and call it a logo. OK? cool.
If this was in fact a legit company name and this was the logo/mark YES it would be nice. The illustration is interesting and a nice way to bring in a coffee cup into the type.
The sad thing is that this it’s not.

BORING: “We all are students, forever on this job”, and people love this logo. It brings inspiration, I hope so. And that is the most important thing on it. On other way I believe that this logo become real identity in short time, it has own soul, it is like magnet. It not become lost in drawer. After true owner will find it fitting his visions perfectly, he put it into real business, it is ready job and it is matter of time. I want thank you all respected designers for such a good acceptance. It means a lot for me. You motivate me to do my job best way I can. I learned working on this project, that most important thing on design is, to join form and function perfectly together, execute it with passion and bring people positive emotion throught it. Make them fall in love with it. That is important. When doing this job for clients, it is much harder, you are right about it. You require communications skills and some endurance above designing. But such a things as practice on logo design with free mind make us, designers stronger in real business, improve our skills and lead us to better quality of ourselves and results of our work. So I think this is not sad thing as you said. And after all this great site is the place, where designers can find inspiration, its written on the top of the page beside logo, so it is not in conflict with conceptual work … Have a good coffee :-) Jan

You’re right about that Jan, this website is for inspiration and your logo is exactly the kind of inspiration that is very much welcome and appreciated here.

Thank You Dirk and LOGOMOOSE.

Now it is real brand. Logo was bought by one coffee shop and will be used in real business.
Leene Mogobe
Hi Jan. I need you and the rest of logoMoose and fans to hear me out.
Fistly, Congratulations Jan on making Logo of the month.
I’d like other designers or commentary on this logo to help me out on this one. About 2 weeks back, on the 15th May, my client approved a logo for a coffee shop called coffee lounge due to open doors on the 1st July in Botswana, Africa. My clients’ sponsors are investing about $75K for the shop. This includes branding, interior decor, equipment and other operations. Some of the brand collateral is out for production. On the 4th June im expecting the interior designers to do a proposal presentation for the shop.
Having said all that, it came to my surprise about an hour back to find out that the logo I designed for my client, and has approved, looks almost exactly like your coffee cup logo. Mind you, I have never used any reference to any other material than my sketch pad. Now, I need you, other designers and logomoose to advice me. I’m trying to avoid a situation where my client thinks that I’ve picked up a logo from the net and sold it to him after investing so much money on the branding exercise.

Hi Leene, I understand and trust You. I fully take that your logo is original work done without influence of some other design. Some people could see similarities. Above all vapor or steam as two ff can be issue. This happens sometimes. Telepathy or flash of coincidence happens. I dont think that logos are in conflict as brands. They can coexist, the world is big and Your logo is very nice. Good luck with Your client.
Leene Mogobe
Hi Jan. Thanks for your comment. I’ve just discussed this with my client and he was understanding and he too agrees that creativity doesn’t just happen in a vacuum. He’s comfortable with the co-existence of these logo.
I just find it very weird that we have both came up with the same concept and conclusion to our logos. I haven’t experienced this sort before. Thanks and good luck with your design career.

“people love this logo. It brings inspiration”
And what commmunicate exactly?
Kristi
I’m impressed that you illustrated the word “COFFEE” nicely with a cup. other than that am I missing something? It looks nice but its shocking this is getting exposer the way it is.
Leene you designed a logo for a client. Imagine that? a client!!!!!! Jan designed the word Coffee for fun that later after being posted on many sites someone purchased for a few hundred that the owner felt he could use for his coffee shop with a different name. Strange I know but either way someone did purchase it. Fake gone legit but still without creditability . sorry but no thanks. Just like Web site design template sites. Then again everyday real designers working on real every day brands get paid a lot of money for a reason I guess.
It would be nice to see what Jan can come up with for a logo for a legit company when he’s given challenges along with a name that he may not like instead of a simple word like COFFEE.
I'm impressed
